Why Buy Burris Binoculars?

The Burris Company itself says that their typical customers “tend to be pretty hardcore,” meaning that they are avid hunters, bird watchers, astronomers, yachtsmen or others who are so passionate about their activities that they are willing to buy the best equipment available.  They also have a line of products specially designed for law-enforcement use.  This company knows that your activity’s success depends upon the reliability of your equipment.

Short History of Burris

Burris Optics is an American company that makes a wide variety of optical equipment, including rifle scopes, sights, spotting scopes, and the accessories that go with them.  The company was founded in 1971 by Don Burris, who had previously worked for another company designing optical sporting equipment.  His designs were so advanced that they were used by the military for their sniper rifles, and continue to be used by professionals and law enforcement.  Their products are considered to be among the best in the world for people who require high quality equipment.

Common Features

Most of these binoculars use a roof prism and have a magnification of 8x or 10x, though some models also feature 12x.  Some models are waterproof and fog-proof, and many have fully multicoated optics or phase correct coatings.  This product usually comes in black, but several models also offer the choice of camouflage covering.  They also offer eye relief to make it easier to use them while wearing glasses, twist-up eye cups, BaK-4 prisms, broad-band coatings and a glare-free finish.  All of these products come with a lifetime warranty.

Performance/Ratings

Reviewers spoke highly of the value that this product gives for the price, in some cases as good as different brands that cost a thousand dollars more.  They were said to be of high clarity, and very useful for close-focusing, hunting, scouting, bird watching, or security uses.  Customers say that they are easy to focus, compact, and lightweight.  Some users have also given them high marks as being easy to set up, easy to use, having excellent features, and more than meeting their expectations.  However, a few customers noted that they had trouble with fogging and that the waterproofing was faulty.  Others said that they were disappointed in the limited field of view, and that their model was too heavy for long-term use.

Popular Burris Models

Burris offers five different lines of binoculars.  These are Euro Diamond, Signature Select, Fullfield II, Landmark, and the B-1500 Laser Rangefinders.  Each of these product lines has several different models within it.  The Euro Diamond includes 8x, 10x, and 12x magnification, and lens diameters of 42 or 50 millimeters.  The Signature Select line also offers models with a magnification of 8x, 10x, or 12x, with lens diameters of 32, 42, or 50 millimeters.  The Fullfield II has only one model, an 8x42mm camouflaged style.  The Landmark series offers magnification of 8x or 10x, with lens widths of 32 or 42 millimeters.  Finally, the B-1500 Laser Rangefinding binoculars have only 7x magnification, but have an extraordinary range of 1500 yards.
